I like everything about this site,everything is well set out.I know it would have taken erik and his crew quite some time to make this site.It is a very organised site,i like the forums,although there are some ridiculous ones.Generally speaking it is a GREAT site.Thumbs up to all those who helped develop it.
As for global warming,I just think you are all being very dismissive about it.That's the problem with we humans,always got this attitude of dismissing things.I'm sure a man like Al gore would have better things to do than trying to make people aware about changes in our surroundings.I just hope it wont get to a time when it would be too late and by then,the impact would be DISASTROUS.Like the saying goes PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE and TO BE FORE WARNED IS TO BE FORE ARMED.Now we all have the chance to avoid it having any serious effect on our dear planet.You just never know when it may be too late to prevent further damage from being done.Be Wise and dont just sweep everything under the carpet.

to prove global warming is true don't people say things like "this is the biggest tornado sence 1980!" so does tha mean there was a bigger tornado and no one thougt the the world will burn up!!!!!

Well only time will tell what is going to be the outcome of this arguement.Why dont we just all wait and see.
i don't like how this "why i'm staying on chess.com" thread has turned into a debate re: global warming. i was reading some interesting posts about why others are staying, then i have to sort through global warming stuff. good reason to have a "Debates" forum in my opinion.
Ha ha. Yeah, that's just the way issues work.
I started this thread just to make fun of Reservesmonkey and remind everyone that got caught up in that fiasco (mostly Loomis) that there are plenty more people that love this site, and appreciate the community. I threw in one little comment about global warming (in reference to a post by Batgirl), and six pages later, all we have is a debate about global warming. I wonder if a discussion of Nihilism will follow.
i dont understand why people threaten to leave. I think that if someone wants to leave, they should not post it. It's just not a nice thing to do.

Someone might be able to find a tiny group of 'scientists' who disagree with the 99% of Climate Scientists who have been deeply concerned about the planet since the 70's at least...I've spoken to a few Australian scientists about this issue about 10 years ago and felt the need to do something...anything, even if it's just to speak up when I hear people claiming that everything is just dandy and we can keep on polluting at an ever increasing rate.
To those thinking that Global Warming leads to a lovely tropical experience for all, think again. To the nay-sayers...if in the unlikely event you are right, and the vast majority of Climate Scientists are wrong, poor fool them and well, we didn't have to clean up our environment quite so fast did we. If on the other hand you non-science types are wrong...no one will be laughing.
