Considering how much I'm involved and active with the chess.com community already; I'd be happy to help chess.com by being a mod if they judge me a good fit for the position and if I deem the position a good fit for me

I'll check out the application

I think you would be a great mod! Very helpful and knowledgeable person!

Yeah this guy would clearly be a great volunteer mod alright.

He already is

Demoted to non-mod status, or undercover mod? Inquiring minds want to know...

I believe there's another account but he probably doesn't want to reveal it as it would mess with his nice guy image 😉

I was going to joke that your company car is your own pair of P. F. Flyers.

I was flabbergasted to find out they still sell them...

Maybe Red Ball Jets!

Re: P. F. Flyers - When I was a kid, the TV commercials claimed that they made you "Run faster and jump higher". And I really believed it. I can't remember if I got them or not, as my parents controlled the purse strings. The power of advertising...

I wore Converse high tops (white, two pairs at the start of each basketball season) when they were cool. Before they became uncool. And then became cool again.

I appreciate the irony of not allowing those under 18 to be mods; while simultaneously saying

"Avoid being biased/predisposed toward or against any race/religion/sex/gender/etc."

I don't see any irony. Race/religion/sex/gender don't have anything to do with age. In fact, there are good reasons for requiring mods to be 18. Besides the fact that 18 is typically considered to be the start of being an adult, there's another reason. Your frontal cortex doesn't get fully developed until about the age of 25. So, the greater the age difference is under 25, the more likely it is that you'll make suboptimal decisions.

discrimination- based on age, is allowed, but kudos for not allowing the other types of discrimination?

Ageism will be the last bastion to fall, by which time I will be too old to enjoy it. happy.png

Would you want an 8-year old running a major corporation? Most people wouldn't.

Can I be the first to say, “nope!”?

I understand his concern, but a 60 yo vs. a 30 yo is much different than a 30 yo vs. a 15 yo.

Kids say the same things...

All you have to do is ask them whether or not they're smarter than they were 1 year ago. Then ask whether they're smarter than they were 5 years ago. Then ask them what they think is going to happen in the next 5 years.

Then they realize the person they are now is a huge id|ot compared to who they'll be later.

Moderator, a very difficult job considering the huge numbers of debilitating comments, reward Diamonds membership, even though chess.com is very profitable. How fair is this?

I report over 100 a day and got rid of various dictators pseudos, but for free, no benefits...
