Quick games

I've realised that quick tournaments are not very quick really. 1 move per day can delay the end of a game and I think that is not enough for a quick game.

I've been thinking about the possibility to introduce another criteria to create quick games. What if the time begins to count at the moment that a player watch the board when is his/her move? So, the time established for a game could be 1, 2, 3 hours, but counting when a player "is in front of the board" when is his/her turn. Of course, the limit of 1 move per day should continue. What do you think about that?

good idea

Another option could be to limit the time that the board analysis is available...

Nobody interested in this possibility?... Perhaps this topic has been treated before?

this isn't possible or practical in my opinion. most people come to the site for 1-2 hours per day, once a day :) so it would be, in effect, the same.

you will have to wait for our live chess tournaments later this year :)

Looking forward to live chess tournaments already.

So the time control starts when the players is in front of the board. What happens if he stop seing the board? The time control of 1, 2 or 3 hours is still running?
phobius

Of course not. The time would stop when the player leave the game to go to another.

But in live chess... will be possible to stop the time? I mean, what if I have to lunch, I receive a phone calling or other situations...
