From your picture you look much older!

As I am sure most people knew by now, I am John Musacha from Miami, Florida.  I have been a on-and-off pest on this site for some time.  For some time I felt angry over what I saw as preferential treatment given to veteran members of the site.  I admit that there was no need for me to respond with such vitriol over the issue.  Even more hopefully, I believe the situation I described above is no longer the case on these forums – due to Erik’s recent intervention.

I apologize to the Chess.com community and the staff for my behavior.  How do you know that this won’t happen again?  That is a fair question to which I have a few thoughts:

1.  I like chess.com and would cherish a stable account with history.  I was a “Platinum” member in the past.  If you allowed me back to the site under my old user name, I would not want to mess this chance up by being unpleasant.

        2.  The situation that I had previously inflamed and reacted badly to no longer exists.  The atmosphere on this site is completely different, thanks to Erik’s recent directives.  The old attackers seemingly have taken their warnings to heart and are no longer as active in attacking new members or members they deem silly.  I think they also understand that the staff will no longer assist them in any disputes.  Thus, all things being equal, a repeat of my own past behavior is less likely.

          3.  Self control and maturity.  I’ve mellowed with age.  I know you don’t know me, but I have grown up quite a bit in the last few years.  I can exercise appropriate self control not to behave badly on this site.

Once again, thank you for the opportunity to address you all.  I will be also closing any and all various alternate accounts I’ve created over the last month.

I looooooove melodrama ! ! !

Well, I for one am glad to see John Musasha back and with a postive attitude.  After seeing his name in every other post throughout these many months, I think a little fanfare is appropriate.  And his words were well chosen.

ConnorMacleod_151

I don't know him... lol...i might have him on my 200 block list !

Their response will be something like "you want us to shut off this guy's internet for what?  Posting stupid threads about Magnus Carlsen?  On a chess discussion site? Yeeeeah..."

If you are an experienced in ISPs as you say, you should know this for fact fact fact.

Listen to you talk you seem to think starting stupid threads about Carlsen is on par with specific death and bomb threats.  Then again, perhaps it is... in your mind.  In your mind and in the minds of most of the people decrying these "sockpuppets".

My god!  The inhumanity of it all!!

Kids are starting stupid topics on Magnus Carlsen!!!

This is blasphemy!!

This is like Pearl Harbor and the Hindenburg disaster combined!! No...even worse!!!

I'm surprised you haven't suggested contacting the FBI.

I know exactly how ISPs respond to inquiries like this, actually.  I guess you have some illusion that ISPs care about a single $25/month customer that has been earmarked as a spammer.  The act being reported is repeated spamming and harassment of a web service's customers, and circumventing methods used to prevent said spamming by repeatedly creating fake accounts.

Keep on dreaming if you think that most of the people who work in ISP abuse departments don't live for shutting down people just like you ;).  ISPs like nice, quiet, anonymous customers, not outliers that draw attention to themselves.

Hey, John, is one of these acts of contrition the removal of the chess.com encyclopedia dramatica article you created?  Seems to me it would be a real sign of good faith to do so posthaste.

johnmusacha

I believe what you are referring to is in "wiki" format. No one person can dictate what a wiki says.  All people including you and anyone reading this, however, are free to edit a wiki article.  I have no more

control over that article than I do over the one concerning the Techno Viking.  Sorry.

TheGrobe

Maybe not control, but certainly influence.  I know this because when some of the members here found it and tried repeatedly to edit it you were very vigilant about restoring the malicious content.

Just as you were able to keep this content in place after it was edited out, surely you're also able to edit it out yourself.  I'd do it, but it's not my mess to clean up, and like I said, it's a great opportunity to show some good faith.
