Live chess problems -- Just me?
This is very perplexing. I tried Live Chess on my workstation in my office and on my other notebook computer (both running Firefox) and it works just fine on both systems. On my big notebook, clicking on the "close" button of the pop-up indicating the end-of-game result causes the pop-up to disappear and the Live Chess window goes blank white.
I've made sure that Windows Update has done all updates, Java has been updated to the latest version, and the system has been rebooted. I've also flushed the Firefox cache and just for good measure, when the Live Chess page comes up, I do a right-click|reload operation. It still goes to a blank white screen when I click on the "Close" button on the pop-up. Interestingly, it doesn't crash like this if I click on the upper-right "X" close button.
Just retried with Internet Explorer and Live Chess works fine there regardless of which method I use to close the pop-up window.
It doesn't sound like many others are running into this issue but I'll file a separate report on what I'm running into...
I keep having Live Chess hang on me, usually it seems related to pop-up windows.
For example, I was watching a game and when it was over, a pop-up window informed me about who won. I clicked on the button labeled "Close" and the Live Chess window went blank, and I couldn't get it back. I had to close it and reenter Live Chess. This happened a couple more times. Then I tried clicking on the other close button (the one with an "X") and that worked.
Next I was playing a game against jedimaster and when I went to promote a pawn, a pop-up window appeared with the promotion options. I clicked on the queen and again the Live Chess window went blank and I was stuck, unable to finish the game.
So I'm wondering, is anybody else seeing these problems?
I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.12 under Windows XP. I'd appreciate any suggestions or information about whether or not I'm alone with this problem. Thanks!Oh -- And is there a way I can finish that game with Jedimaster that I had to bail out on? I can't seem to find a record of the game anywhere.
