Hi,

I'm a 25 year old software programmer from Buffalo, NY.

I learned to play chess young, and ended up stopping for years.

I finally started playing again a few months ago, and have been getting whooped on since joining FICS.

I think I've been improving slowly, and have found the Chess.com site / community quite helpful.

Hi Ryan, Glad to hear that you are enjoying Chess.com. You will learn a lot here, as there are some pretty awesome players on this site, who are really clever and not a bit stingy with their knowledge. Plus there are players like me, who like you, get whooped a lot, but I work hard and climb my way back up, only to get whooped again, but, I love this site. I play because I love the game, it is my addiction, and I have always found that even thou the majority of players whom I play ,(although much higher ranked than me) are friendly, funny, helpful, and just great to be in touch with. Oh you'll meet a few who are a bit prissy, but you don't have to play them twice. Just enjoy. Good Luck

I am enjoying learning to play chess.

I always thought I was good, cause I could beat most people I knew, but those were games without tactics, or strategy, not the same game I am playing now.

Just the tactics trainer alone makes this site my #1 chess site.
