I was wondering, what do y’all think is a good rating for a 12 year old on chess.com?

Anything above the 800 average rating must be considered good.

Of course, there are 12 year old Grandmasters...

1200 is fine, but congrats on the 200 point rapid rating increase in the past month. keep it up, you'll be at 1500 in no time grin.png

I don't think there are 12 year old grandmasters. I am pretty sure that Praggnanandhaa R is the youngest GM, coming to the title of GM at 16, which is the youngest a GM has ever been.

That is a ridiculous claim. Bobby Fischer was a GM at 15, and back at that time reaching GM was much much harder, it meant that you are in the top 50 players. Ratings inflation has inflated the rankings in the past decades, and Bobby's record was beaten several time, first by Judit Polgar, then by many others.

Praggu was not yet 13 when he became a GM.

Is a rating of 800 good for a 12 year old if it took you 1month?

Anonymous27165
12 year olds range from a lot of ratings. 100-2500. Ive seen most 12 year olds at around 1200-1400. I was 1950 when I was 12

honestly you dont really need to compare yourself to others just study and play good chess and thats all that matters

I'd say about 1100 considering that that was my best rating and I was 11 at the time.

I'm 12 now.

most 12-year-olds don’t even play chess, you’re better than most adults actually
