Guys.. have a look at http://www.chess.com/tactics/players.html

See who's on top? That's right.. yours truly!  :)

Tactical trainer is a great tool! Chess.com stuff really did their best there! :) But there is only one feature missing...

COMPETITION!!!

... ah .. I really miss it!!

:) Come on guys... try to beat my 2111 points... A lot of top rated players are missing... probably scared..

erik
congrats! i bet once phobetor sees that he'll get motivated...
lubo

Thank you Erik! :)

I sent him PM about the rating..  just in case he forgets to check the rank list ;)

As it is now, the Tactics Trainer is ridiculous. Some of the puzzles arent about Tactics but involve complete endgames or brilliant Grandmaster combinations. A Tactics Trainer should (imo) be about training your vision, a quick eye for tactics. So a high score should be achieved by spotting tactics quickly, not by finding brilliant combinations in just 3 minutes.

And of course it´s nonsense that you get a 0% score when you get 1 move right. Just today I got 9 moves right in one puzzle, where the `hard´ part was already over, but because I played a just as winning move instead of an other winning move, I got a 0% score and dropped 50 points, instead of gaining 50. How´s that fair?

But still I beat you lubo :P Your turn.

You guys had better be careful, you may wake Cheater_1 and his gameboy.

Let's not awake the dead :)

Hey, :) I got 7 right moves and on the 8th I took the second winning line... guess what :) it was "incorrect move".. And it wasn't just one puzzle... It makes me underrated with at least 60 points ;)..

I think it's the right format for tactical trainer. It's ok to spent 2 minutes on a brilliant combination. Or to solve some endgame tactics. And also.. what points do you want for not solved puzzle? It's like the real chess :).. you play the "right" first move e4.. but then black wins... and you don't get 0.02 points because you played the right first move :).. you get exactly 0! I think that's fair. As you suggest.. you would get some points just by guessing the first move.. And guessing I believe is not a good thing in chess..

I'll reply to you tomorrow.. It's 00:25 here.. and I had a couple of beers :)..

Congratulations with the first place! Don't make yourself confortable.. you'll drop tomorrow :)

Congrats Raymond!

.. I should have stopped on 2122 :)

The house rules are changed. Now we're getting points for guessing moves.

Good luck everyone!

Congratulations lubo.  For the reasons cited above, and others, there are many ways to "lose" in any given problem, even when you see the tactic. For that matter, if you use too much of the time, I've noticed you can lose considerable # of points even if you get it right.  To be on top of such a heap is an accomplishment all to itself.

Thank you batgirl! Raymond is on top today.. I suppose you congrat him as well.
batgirl
I congratulate Raymond also.  Actually, anyone listed one the first page deserves congratulations.

Uhm, 2125 and i'm only second... but i know it's just matter of time, probably i'll be first when scounged will make a mistake... but i have some problems left... What should i do? To continue and probably lose some points, or to wait and keep my rating? Such a difficult choice ;)
lubo

Because you're still not first.. think.. you should continue...

though .. Congratulations :)

 @kembo13: keep it up!

Thijs
After 400 attempts I regained 1st place again. Who will come and get me now?
lubo

Congratulations!

On your question:

You know the answer :)...

Just wait until I get to my 10 attempts ;)

damiano80
am I wrong or now the score is not always 0% when you fail after some right moves? Did admins make some changes these days? Tell me if i'm wrong...
lubo

Yes, the house rules are changed. Now if you guess some move -- you get points.

I think we shouldn't take points for guessing... but the rules are rules.. and they' applyl to all players.
