I honestly don't know
Does anyone know why the first one isn't a brilliant move, but the other is?
In the first case Rg8 is not brilliant because:
1. Bxg3 --> you lose the rock and the queen is under attack
2. Qxg3+ --> then you have a queen and a rock (d8) vulnerable. Moreover, you king is blocked in his row without defense so it's easy to checkmate
In the second case instead:
1. Qxe2
2. Qxf2+ (protected by the bishop in c5)
For a little context, the brilliant move was my first one against a person online. I have gotten another brilliant move against a 600 rated computer (Jimmy), but that was it. I have recently played a game, (I was around 550) and I played a move that I thought would be a brilliant move, but it was only a great move. I wonder why?
