Chesskid age limit

If you're 13 can you go on chesskid?

oinquarki

It's on a case-by-case basis. I think you'll be fine.

There isn't an "official" age limit like that. We recommend ChessKid.com for ages 6-12 and ratings of beginner to 1000. The thing is that most of the content is designed for children in terms of the "tone" (talking to "level of the kids" basically) but the ideas are probably useful even for many of the members on Chess.com to be honest...

So if you want to join, and you find the content useful, more power to you! If not, stick with Chess.com!

I guess I'll stick with the big boys ;)

What will happen to my son's account when he gets old enough to graduate to the Chess.com site? Will his ratings transfer? Also, I had to create a parent account for Chesskid.com, but isn't that the same as having two Chess.com accounts? Thanks.

chess.com and chesskid.com are completely separate afaik. So you have one account on each site. your son would have to create a totally separate new account on this site too.

I don't think there's any mandatory age restriction, under 13's are just recommended to used chesskid, not chess.com, similarly over 13's are reccomended to use chess.com, not chesskid. But you don't have to so he could keep using chesskid if he wanted.

Ok. Thank you. I guess his stats won't matter that much unless he becomes very good early. Then it may be a good idea to get him an account on the old folks site. Surprised

1. Create a chesskid account

2. 2400 rating

4. ????

5. Profit!

Thanks, piphilogist -- Yep, they are "together" as far as ownership and management, but they are different sites... all ratings and stats are different.

Enjoy it!
