Chess.com after 3 weeks....?

So, it's been 3 weeks since Chess.com went live. We're still in BETA and we appreciate all of the help and support we've gotten! I'd just love to hear some feedback on what you think of the site, your experience so far, etc.

We KNOW we need a way to play other members. That will be in place by the end of June (only ~10 days)!

Any other thoughts?? 

Everything on the site seems to work fine with just a few minor bugs here and there. 

Every undertaking, particularly of this magnitude, should have clear-cut and explicit objectives. I understand your objective is to build a "chess community."  I'm not sure exactly what this means. Knowing your destination and mapping out the route are two of the important elements in reaching it. It also keeps you focused and makes decision-making easier.  So, I think clarifying your goals might be advantageous in obtaining help reaching them.

Objective:

Become the #1 chess website on the internet where all people who love chess (or want to learn to love it) come to play, learn, and share.

Here is how we get there:

PLAY
- we're working on it :)

LEARN
- step #1: get great chess authors and contributors to share their thoughts and insights. (we've got GREAT writers on this site already, and we are looking to add a few more! we're trying to improve our tools so that more chess writers will adopt the chess.com platform for online publishing)
- step #2: build great tools for learning (we've only just started! we have plans to add a lot of new functionality over the next little while so people can better study games and positions)

SHARE
- build a complete chess portal where people can talk and express their ideas and knowledge. (i think we've done a good job at that with the blogs and forums. chat is coming soon as are other great collaborative tools!)

INFO
- we have tried to build up directories so that any chess information you could want is here for you. the tools are there, they just need to be used! we will be contacting chess coaches, event organizers, club managers, retailers, etc in the near future so that we have a more updated directory of information.

But have you thought of, or seriously considered, collaborating?

There are some sites that are so specialized and good at what they do, their content can't be duplicated. But they might share a common goal.  Working together sometimes benefits everyone.

Excellent site, I only have to congratulate them. I do not only find the laborer certain to eat me straight-line. But without problems, it is a game only.

Thanks Claudio! But I have to say, this is one of the oddest things I have ever read:

What does that mean?? 

The times I am playing and the laborer adversary catches my straight-line laborer, the correct one is the laborer to eat in the diagonal line, as all know, but does not have problems, can be some problem of software. I do not know if you are understanding me, you have a little of difficulties in saying the English language, you forgive me.I agree to the Quaff!

you are right - we currently don't have a lot that is really different, except some of the social tools like profiles, friends, notes, messages, etc (more of the "myspace" functionality) and the ability to easily insert diagrams, puzzles, games into your content.

that said, we are working on a bunch of new stuff ;) 

this site is still young!
