Chatbox spammers

Sort:

I am sick to death of logging on to the chess application to see some kid spamming the death out of the chatbox.

Something seriously needs to be done about this, you could implement a message control function which only lets you post 5 messages a minute or something along the lines of that.

We need more admins around to place bans on these people. I don't know how this site has attracted more of the younger age. Other chess sites I have visited tend to attract older people such as flyordie.com.

Anyway, I hope something can be done about this, I have inserted an image to the end of my post to justify my point.

Have a nice day,

Saminh

wow, that is incredible. I don't understand why some people think that doing stuff like that is funny. I always just minimize all chat functions since usually it is not intelligent conversation anyway.

If you click on the Report Abuse button at the bottom of the page, chess.com staff will be able to look into this for you.

Wow, what a stupid kid.  Maybe chess.com should use something like the Block or Ignore functions on AIM.  If you Block someone, they can't message you and they won't be able to tell if you're online or not - it always shows that you're offline, even if you're on.  If you Ignore someone in a chat room, that person will still be there, but you can't see what they're saying, and I don't think that they can say what you say either.

Good ideas, thanks for the intelligence on the report abuse button, never seen that before.

I hope more ideas can be the result of this topic.

we're working hard on it :) we need more admins, and we're trying to get better. we already have checks in place for vulgarity/offensive stuff. we'll try to do the same for spam, but it is hard. ultimately we just need more moderators :(

still, we're more focused on making the PLAYING better right now. once we nail that, we'll tidy up details like this.
