Bot Rating thoughts

While in general the bots seem to order fairly well in terms of their  "bot ratings", there is a lot of comments about the bots being over-rated compared to human players.  Bot games are not rated, so their stated rating remains stagnant.

I think it would be interesting if bots had a 2nd rating value, one that did adjust (the human player's rating would remain unaffected, so you can't farm bots for rating points).  That way, a comparison between the "assigned" bot rating and it's actual performance against humans could be compared.

Might be interesting for players, but also might provide information on how to better programme bots to target different rating levels (and there may even be spill over to the "Estimate Elo" routines).

The bots only seem overrated if you play long time controls. Try playing five-minute games and you'll be astonished how handily a bot rated the same as you will thrash you.

Tracking the dynamic ratings could give developers valuable insights into how well bots are playing against humans. If certain bots are consistently over-performing or under-performing relative to their assigned rating, developers could adjust their programming to better target the intended skill level.

Next time you do that, save the game to your history and notify me.
