Hi -- love the site, would like to offer a few tiny suggestions...
Is there a way you can build in recording of "hypothetical" moves in the analysis board? Not conditional moves, but if you pull up the analysis board and start moving pieces around, can those moves be recorded, even if temporarily (just long enough to cut/copy and paste the moves out)? That way, if you happen upon some great combination, instead of trying to remember it, you can copy and paste the PGN into your own private notes.
Maybe make the little membership icons next to a member's name clickable (and it takes you to the sign up page), so if a person asks him/herself: "What does that Gold Star represent again?" they can click on it, be taken to the membership page (where they can see the answer to their question), and perhaps they will sign up!
Ability to annotate during the game, so afterwards, would not have to wonder why a certain move was made -- can just make the note about it as the move it made. PROPOSAL: on the tabbed table to the right of the games (tabs named "Moves", "Details", etc.), could you add another tab called "Annotate". That tab contains one free text field. Anything that a member puts in that field *at a certain move in the game* is remembered with that move and exported as a comment for that move in the PGN. Considering the basic rules for inserting comments into PGN isn't too complicated (e.g. put {} around the comments), maybe it would be easy to extract the text from the proposed field above and put the brackets around them in the proper move in the game. Then again, while it sounds easy, programming that might be a battle...?
I really like the feature on your site where you can insert a position or a game on a forum post (the tinyMCE/ChessDiagrams program)-- that is great how you can add annotations and variations in there! Very nice!
Any sort of feedback on these suggestions would be very welcomed, even if the proposed changes are not possible at all, I would at least appreciate you mentioning that.
All the best and I love this site! -KnightNotHorse
