What is the process like to become a mod? (I'm seventeen, though aspire to be one some day).

you have to be 18

you have to pass the test

 if you want to become a mod, it's best not to ask for it;they'll ask you themselves if they think you should be one

I think most did apply for the job, not asked to be one.

Some people apply; I was recruited.  You have to have a good reputation in the community.  You get a skype interview and training session with @jdcannon, and then you get access to moderator tools.

Beware, jdcannon muted someone for a year just because he was Australian.

I don't blame him.  They cheat at cricket.
