My joke had to do with the difference in what Staff gets paid......and what mods get paid. I'm sorry if it upset you.

Being offended is our new national past time.

I will assume youre talking about someone else.  The word brilliant, and me are not often used in the same sentence.

There’s been a rumor going around that mods can see who is viewing a thread. Is it true?

thegreatauk

Isn't this going kinda off-topic?

When doesnt it?

MGleason

No, we can't see who is viewing a thread.  Not even staff will have that information.  They stopped logging views on threads in v3 because the extra write operations were expensive, and if repeatedly writing an integer gets expensive, they certainly won't be logging lots of user names for every thread.

Well, that is a good point. I don't think many threads stay righthappy.png

True...and that is why Off-Topic, The cheating group, etc. dont work.  The "look at me" factor is to low.

That's too bad. It would be a VERY easy way to weed out the multi-accounts.

MGleason

We have other tools for that.

Junebug444

Oh, for sure. Nobody can identify one guy under a thousand different personalities without some secret tools.

MGleason

It helped when that one guy and some of his co-conspirators were making their plans on a thread that they didn't know was publicly visible.  Unfortunately someone posted the link here which tipped them off that it was public.  Still, we have other tools.

You also start to recognise the styles of the repeat offenders after a time.

You know, I've told erik several times that he should try to be original each time he creates a new account to troll the forums, but so far I've failed miserably. I will keep trying though.

Yeah, it's a bad habit, but he's getting counselling for it.
