Certainly could set up something like that but it sounds like what you may be wanting more is to connect after playing to review the game and discuss it with either your opponent or someone else if it is a competitive game (as little talking would likely be had during the game), unless it was a teaching game as you mentioned maybe doing too where you might be discussing ideas and offering advice during the game and maybe afterwards too.
I'd be up to playing and reviewing with you or even just reviewing your games with you in general if you want, doesn't necessarily even need to be one we played. If you are interested in more long time control game you might find https://www.lichess4545.com interesting- about as close as OTB time control online as it gets, and you can play either on a team or individually (Lone Wolf).
You can message me if you want to talk more, happy king hunting!
Hi all,
I live on Orkney, a small group of islands off the north coast of Scotland (pop. 26,000 approx) and sadly our local OTB Chess club did not survive Covid and despite my best efforts a new one has not risen from the ashes.
This means that whilst I can get my "fix" here on Chess.com of games I miss the OTB conversations about the game afterwards and find it easier to learn with such interactions.
Therefore I am putting this out there;
Is anyone else in the same situ of living in a remote and rural area without access to an OTB club? If so would you be interested in arranging games played here on Chess.com but also communicating via Zoom, Skype, Teams etc at the same time to allow discussion/learning?
Unfortunately I only speak English so can't accommodate other languages (sorry I did try and learn other languages as a child but I was hopeless at it!)
I am a Class A player (1800-2000 elo) however within that range am stronger at shorter time controls (blitz/rapid don't play bullet much) as my calculation skills are not as developed as my intuition/pattern recognition! I am happy to play any reasonable time control and couldn't care less about grading numbers. I have taught beginners/juniors in the past so am not adverse to helping others but ideally someone around the Class A level would be good.
Please feel free to drop me a message either here on via DM.
If you've gotten this far - Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Joe
