Then step 1
How to grow a club fast
Realistically, it doesn’t matter.
Realistically, it doesn’t matter.
Best way - Be honest
The club has 63 members after 1 month
63 members is more than enough to play matches and set up tournaments, if they are real members who joined because they were interested and not just because of if you join mine, Ill join yours.
I see you belong to 107 clubs. How often do you visit most of them?
Are your clubs playing matches?
Does anything happen in your clubs?
My club has gotten 49 members in just 3 weeks. Heres the link https://www.chess.com/club/the-chess-association
What would make *you* join a club?
There are a million clubs out there. You need something that sets yours apart from the rest. The possibilities are endless! Here are some things you can build a club around:
- Your city/state/country.
- A particular opening.
- A player you admire.
- Your favorite chess variant (e.g. 960)
- Your political or religious beliefs
- Your favorite movie or TV show.
Next, you need to keep some sort of activity going. A club with no activity will soon be a dead club. Perhaps you have lots of team matches or vote chess games. Perhaps you organize lots of tournaments at your favorite time control. Perhaps you just have lots of interesting discussions in your forums. Anything works, as long as someone out there likes it.
If there's an existing club in your category, consider joining it. It's probably easier to become an admin in an existing club than to build up a good club from scratch. It takes work to keep activity going, and if you prove your willingness to do the work, people will usually notice.
What does NOT work:
- Whining about why people don't join your club.
Hope that helps!
Being really active in your club(s), inviting members (using your formal invites ofc, not spamming), have a set theme, have consistent tournaments/daily matches/vote chess matches, and making it professional
having real content, entertainment and stuff
its really hard, im part of a club that is active for 2-3 years and even with new generations of members and pretty chill/mature people and old members coming back we are running out of content, everything has been done, and cc is less active due to less lockdowns so a lot less new members, so even for a club that historically was more active than public forums its suffering rn
