Wizard. Moves like a bishop, but after every second capture you have to sacrifice your own pawn. If you sacrifice a pawn of your choice (remove it from the board), Wizard can teleport to any unoccupied square.
Let's invent some very weird pieces
The Leeroy. Moves like a knight, and if it can legally capture an enemy piece then it has to.
The Squire - it can move up to three spaces in a straight line in any direction
The Revolutionary moves like a queen, cannot be taken by pawns, can only take non-pawns.
The Teleporter, it can move to any unoccupied space but can only take pieces by moving 1 space in any direction.
The Devil. In starting position moves and captures exactly like a pawn, but it gets the ability to move any piece it takes. So if he takes a knight, he can move already in the move of the knights. That is, the devil, as it were, takes the soul from the captured piece.
The "Queen has AIDS" piece. This Queen has AIDS and transmits it to other pieces that she contacts instead of capturing them. Then those pieces pass it on to other pieces and they slowly die during the game.
But after how many turns?
Washlet toilet. Instead of e pawn...functions exactly like an e pawn, except if you capture it, toss a coin. On tails result, you press bidet function instead of flush and automatically resign.
Now, some stronger royal pieces.
1. The jumping king - king + alibaba;
2. The atomic king - king that not only can capture by replacement, but also by landing right next to the enemy piece(s). Thus it can capture a whole bunch of pieces at a time; moves like the regular king;
3. The king paralyzer(or the sticky king) - king that cannot capture but immobilizes the enemy pieces on the adjacent squares, moves like the regular king;
4. Shooter king - king that can capture without moving (shoots 1 square in any direction), moves like the regular king;
5. King on a horse - king + knight, a royal centaur basically;
6. And the best for the last - the Megaking! King + knight + hawk (chess on an infinite plane) + camel + giraffe (Grant Acedrex).
Donkey. Moves and captures like a knight, but the player who loses the donkey will lose automatically.
The Drone moves one or two cells straight, without jumping. Jumping moves are illegal for him.
The Courtesan moves and captures like a king, but has an additional feature: whenever there is an open path from her to her own king horizontally or diagonally, she can move or hit in any direction -like a queen or knight.
The Chief. Three steps in any direction or combination of directions. This is equivalent to three moves of the chess king, except that he cannot return to the cell he was moving from, and can only capture on the third step.
The TIGER can jump over his own and other people's pieces. Tiger moves two squares vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and also as a knight.
The TIGER can jump over his own and other people's pieces. Tiger moves two squares vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and also as a knight.
Isn't that the tiger from Turkish chess- knight + alibaba?
The switch bishop - bishop that can change the color of squares by moving passively (no capture) 1 square orthogonally in all 4 directions.
The checker king - king that can capture like a checker piece orthogonally and diagonally apart from normal capture ( non-royal - checkermann), moves like a regular king.
"Village Idiot" piece. It can be moved in the same fashion as the queen, but is not capable of capturing pieces or being captured itself. It's just a one-square obstruction that prevents your opponent from moving onto a certain square or threatening a certain piece when there's no other option. For example:
The TIGER can jump over his own and other people's pieces. Tiger moves two squares vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and also as a knight.
Isn't that the tiger from Turkish chess- knight + alibaba?
Yes.
New rule -- homosexual king; you may trade your queen for a second king before your first move. Your opponent must checkmate both kings to secure victory. However, you must also remove both bishops when practicing this rule, as they do not support this decision.
Antigryphon (antiaanca) moves 1 square orthogonally (all 4 directions) and then any number of squares diagonally left or right. It's the opposite of the historic piece gryphon (aanca), which moves 1 square diagonally (all 4 directions) and then any number of squares rookwise.
King gryphon (hybrid aanca) - gryphon + antigryphon.
Queen gryphon - queen + king gryphon.
Ultra rook - rook + gryphon.
Ultra bishop - bishop + antigryphon.
Orc - moves like ferz, but captures like wazir, the opposite of fairy piece Hobbit (moves like wazir, captures like ferz).
Superman: Like a queen, but moves twice. If it is next to kryptonite, it has the movement of a king
Kryptonite. Cannot move by itself, but can be picked up and moved by another piece. The piece that is moving it moves like a king
The Centaur: If you reach a queening square with your knight, that knight gets promoted to centaur which has the moves of both knight and queen. That means you can win even if you have only knight and king left.
This piece already exists, and is called an amazon. However, the idea behind it is interesting, if not a little too easy to execute in any given position.
I have invented Wizard Chess (not to be confused with Harry Potter's Wizard's Chess) with the Wizard piece that can teleport across the mirror lines of the board (either straight or diagonally). After teleporting it will also do a single side step, perpendicular to the direction it came from (a property shared with the knight). Plus it can also move like a pawn and promote to a queen on the opponent's backrank.
Tried and tested, it adds some complexity to the game and works.
