What is BugHouse?

It's better to understand it as 'Team Chess'.

Two boards, four players.

The players next to each other are teammates; they play different colors.

Every time one captures a piece, they must give it to their partner.

The player can either choose to move a piece or place a piece given to them by their partner.

Pawns may not be placed on the 1st or 8th ranks.

Variations of these rules exist, I'm sure.

I used to play this with my former team in Illinois from time to time, and with time control, it becomes a wild and exciting frenzy.  It's simply one of the best Chess variants out there.

I wish 960 had never been born!!!!!

I like chess 960.  It sharpens tactics and changes your approach to the game.  For someone like myself, who has never studied openings, chess 960 allows me to thrive on my tactical skills rather than my book knowledge.  In traditional chess against a decent player I expect to lose the opening and then need to regroup in the middle game or later.  I feel on a more even footing with stronger opponents in chess 960.  I play both and enjoy both.  As a highschool Chess Coach my chess board enemy is bughouse.  The kids love it and it teaches them almost nothing about the game.

Seriosity

chess 960 is great. I wish I were better at it though. I sometimes think I have the advantage and lose it entirely immediately. On the other hand, it seems impossible to recover from a disadvantage. AHHH, the things 960 does to me.

What has sense to do with complaining?  Complaining is just good for the soul, sometimes.

I've never played 960, never will.  The problem is that so many other people r, (were, haven't checked lately.) that there were always fewer real games for me.

LADY-GREY

Gee, thx, I will.  I guess I no what I find when I check available games.

But doubt at will  :-+
