What if there were 2 kings in each side and with 0 queens on the board

Hi friends, Introducing myself, I'm Pranav. We play chess normally. There are some variants like 4 player chess and doubles bughouse. But how about we create one. Why not 2 kings in one side in a ordinary chess which means 4 kings in a game and no queens. Other pieces have normal power and if 1 king is checkmated. The whole game is over. We can have teams as well. For teams, we can have equal number of members on each side. So this is my idea. What do you think. It would be a longer match and some fun as well. So, Farewell. Comment how is my Idea and try giving me Ideas to try to create this variant which everyone can play and have fun.Β

2 kings? It's like a woman having 2 husbands LOL. Maybe they are gay kings with no queens? LOL 🀣

Would you keep the rules wrt check/mate/stalemate? They might be extra confusing with 2 Kings.

Ya got to kill twice to win 😁

It would be too easy to checkmate since you will be able to give checks everywhere.
A better rule is that you win when the last king has been checkmated. So you capture the first, then have to checkmate the other.
I think queenless variants are interesting.
My own suggestion would be to add the possibility for an extra king on pawn promotion.
So it would be normal chess with added feature of king promotion.

I agree, that's definitely better!

One nice thing about my suggestion of king promotion is that when you're in trouble, you may be able to promote to a king and simply let the threatened king get captured. And all of a sudden you're castled on the other side of the boardhappy.png It will change the game in subtle ways.

According to that logic, queen promotion should also be abolished. It's genderist!
Actually, there's a point to it. I vote yes, only bishop/knight/rook and king promotion.

Spartan Chess features this, for the Spartan army. (It is an asymmetric game; white (the Persians) play with a regular FIDE army.) The Spartans have two Kings, and white needs to capture both of them to win. There is an extra rule that after each move you must at least have one King that is not threatened (even though it is of course impossible to capture them both in a single move).

All other pieces in the Spartan army are unorthodox ones, even the Pawns, to get a well-balanced game. The Spartan Pawns can promote to King.

I once designed a variant 'Pink Chess', where one player has two Kings and no Queen, and the other has two Queens and no King. Where you need to capture both Kings to win, or just a single Queen.

There is a variant with something like a crown prince. When that piece promote there are 2 kings you have to take. before winning.

I beleave that's the version 35 by 35 squares

In chess ever piece except the king is women, cuz you can promote to queens
