there should be a capture the king variant

i'm proposing a capture the king variant, where you win by actually capturing your opponent's king. if you are in check, you are not forced to get out of check (though getting out of check is recommended but not forced) and you are allowed to make a move that puts your king in check (it is legal but not recommended) and you are not forced to capture your opponent's king if he is in check (recommended but not forced). since it is legal to put your king in check, stalemate is zuzwang that forces you into check. you are also allowed (and sometimes may want) to castle out of check or through check because your king isn't going to get captured but still walks through an attacked square. you are also allowed to castle into check (but still is not recommended). if you mix capture the king with king of the hill you can put your king on a center square even if you expose yourself to check because you win by king of the hill only one move before your opponent wins by capturing the king.

i'm proposing this variant because of dumb rules like stalemate and castling rules that have lost or drawn too many games for hundreds of years that it just isn't funny anymore. stalemate being a draw is just plain stupid considering that the stalemating player usually has a major material advantage that could win the game and it contradicts the rule of zuzwang where you must move when it is your turn even when it puts you at disadvantage. the castling rules are just as dumb or even dumber since you cant castle through check even though it doesn't expose your king to capture.

In Chinese chess stalemate is a loss as suggested here in the OP. But there are very interesting tactics where the way to win is a hard to find stalemate.

So this is little kids beginning chess where they come running up to the teacher waving the opponents Kong’s in their fists yelling I won I won because they just made an illegal move, right?

Sometimes stalemate is because no piece can move, its still a draw in this case
