*The game is played with 4 people,in a 2v2 style. Two players in the same team play the opposite colored pieces.
*The game is played across 2 boards.
*If one player from the team makes a capture,he must hand the captured piece to his teammate. Those pieces can be placed on the board as a move.
*Pawns may not promote and are out of the game upon reaching the end of the board (I think this differs from its chess.com counterpart but this is the rule we have.)
*Pawns may not be placed on the opponents backrank.
*First to checkmate the opponent wins his team the game.(So one board ending is the whole game ending)
Strategy:
In this variant of chess, endgames aren't a thing as the 2 boards can't permamently simplify, any simplification done on one board has the opposite effect on the other,so the way to win is checkmate in the middlegame.
King safety is extremely important since pieces can be placed anywhere on the board.Sacrifices to open up the king are significantly more common here.
Tempo is also really important because new material can be placed using it.It is not advised to lose the initiative as one tempo can determine the winner.
Knights may be better than bishops because the ability to be placed anywhere on the board benefits the jumping knight more. And also since knight checks cannot be blocked with placed pieces.
My guess on piece values here: Pawn:1 Bishop:4.65 Knight:5 Rook:7.15 Queen:12.85 Reason:Knights are stronger than bishops because jumping is a more valueable trait here, pawns are significantly less valueable since they can't promote.
