Why do People Block?

Why do people block?

I understand that people would block when someone is being mean to them or things that are reasonable to block other people. But I have experienced twice on this website when I got blocked just for sending friend requests. It doesn't make sense. Just say that you don't want to be friends or that you don't accept friend requests at the moment (I suggest the first option). Why would somebody just do that, blocking for no specific reason. I just gave them a friend request and suddenly they block me! Why?

Please tell me the reason why people block for just doing the smallest things. I want to know why those 2 people did that. Also tell me if I should say the peoples' names. Maybe we can explain it to them.

This didn't happen too long ago. I experienced it today (November 26th) and yesterday (November 25th). 

Have any of you experienced this situation? Please tell me and we can help each other.

first off, don't name people in forums. it's bad form and you'll probably get picked up on it. let them be.

some people just don't want pen pals and want to play chess. my friends list is nil. i have friends in real life. why do i want them on a website? just saying.

don't take it personally. they don't.

typically if you play someone enough they may friend you, but don't lose sleep over it. it's no big deal.

But the thing that frustrates (it doesn't really frustrate me, but it sort of bugs me) me is that those people have so many friends and then when I send them a friend request, they block me. One of the people that blocked me have 349 friends. So they aren't just there to play chess. They do a lot of posting on blogs, forums, articles, things like that.

Sorry to post so many comments at once, and also to mix topics here- why don't people accept (or the other) friends requests when they're online? I'm sure they get the notifications on the menu (top or side). 

I really don't know why I'm talking so much about friendships and everything. Perhaps that's just my nature.

maybe they blocked you becos they had no interaction with you . if you had played a match with them or met them on forum and had a nice chat with them then maybe they would have accepted your request ../ maybe they block request from strangers ..

I am always mystified by friend requests from people I haven't played or even encountered in the forum.

Why would you friend someone you have never played? Or gotten to know somehow via the forums?

how old are you fm? i'm guessing you're quite young. as kay says, i think you need to man up. 

thing is, you're in a forum with a lot of people who simply couldn't care less about you. they just want to play chess. 

i wouldn't friend someone after some random game. if you keep playing them over and over, maybe then send a friend request. and if they don't respond to your "hi" and "gg", as often occurs on the chat window, forget it. they're just not going to be your pen pal.

I actually friended people that I've never played.

the way a person writes in forums reflects a lot about the person .. yesterday i met a person and had such a nice interaction with him that i was impressed by him and ended up befriending him .

i befriended him so that i can play chess with him .why him ? becos now i know that he is a positive person , writes posts politely , doesn't use abusive language .i would like to play chess with him rather than with an unknown person who writes nonsense posts and uses abusive language or is a troll /
