Are they though?
I am one of the many people that dispute Fischer is the 3rd best player of all time. His case boils down to one performance at one candidates as far as I can see. My opinion is that players who had much more complete careers such as Karpov, Botvinnik or Lasker are greater than Fischer all time. My personal ranking is Kasparov, Carlsen, Botvinnik, Karpov, Lasker.
