What should a 10-11 year old's rating be?  I really don't know.  I am in that category and have a very high 1400 standard but I don't play on that much.  I play more on my blitz ten min. games which my rating is 1000.Wink

heck, you're pretty sharp for your age. Keep at it and you might be a master by college. Sooner if you have any talent.

A person's age does not dicate the skills in chess. I personally know 10-11 year olds with 1800+ ratings in the USCF and Magnus Carlsen received his title very young.

Since you are 1400ish on chess.com, I would say your USCF rating would be around 1100-1350

I think you are better than most 11 year olds by the sound of it.

But age of itself does not mean much after 7 or so. What an 11 year lacks is experience normally. How long you have been playing, your basic talent, and the time you spend in studying is the main thing.

Bobby Fischer was a fearsome player by age 12. But he was horribly unbalanced in character, and never really grew up.

Concentrate on the school work, and use Chess as a means of exercising your mind is my advice.

thank you guys

I know two boys who are both 10 to 11 and are 2000+ USCF...

So I really don't know.

But study.You will get better.

My rating is 1450 and I'm 10 so I think you are about average. But there is a wide range of ratings for 10 and 11 year olds. From 0 to grandmaster rating.

1400 USCF for a 10 yr old is generally considered pretty good.  I think the average for that age is 1200.

I should qualify that I think 1200 is average for 10yr olds based on observations at larger tournaments.  Most start playing at 8 (3rd grade), and if they stayed around til 10, then they've been playing for 2 yrs.

rock303

I'd say about 1400.

FrostedBoy

I'm 10 and my rating is 1900 here my real life rating is 1826 I think that's good enough.....

I don't think it is good enough FrostedBoy. Your Standard Rating is 1940 and your Blitz Rating is 840. What's going on there, FrostedBoy?  The Mods should look into that.

There is no set rating for an age group, or a certain age.  It all depends on when you learned, how long you have been playing, how much you study, how much you practice, desire, dedication, motivation, talent, etc.

IcyAvaleigh

Your rating on that age depends on what you want to reach and on how long you have been playing chess :). Personally I think a 1400 rating is pretty good on that age and you will have enough time to become a 2000+ player one day. But just try to enjoy the game and don't focus too much on your rating, improvement comes naturally :)

Deleted by mod CR, please refrain from accusing cheating in the forum  is such a freakin cheater in rapid lol. That's pretty normal for this site though.

Erik31

It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's stupidman!!! First of all, I've played 15 games here so my 1600 rating means exactly nothing. What would YOU know about cheating with your highest rating being a measly 1300? Plenty of 1600 players have been "banned" from here for cheating. You don't know a thing. On my last account I was 1800-1900 rapid and faced numerous cheats including 3 in a 6 game stretch and 1 of them (drum roll!) was a 1600. Rapid here is infested with engines at higher levels (not that you would know) and I've played over 1400 games on lichess and faced 1 cheater so I'm pretty confident there's more here. They handle cheating way better over there and even restore your rating after the cheater is marked.

Erik31

Oh and if you want proof of my statements look up my old account Erik_420. You'll find numerous opponents in that game archive that are banned for fair play. You'll even find a blitz opponent or 2 that were also cheating. I only created this account because the lichess app was acting up and being here for a couple days looking at these pathetic nonsense filled forums, and being cussed out for just winning a blitz game, and now having some incompetent 1300 try to talk down to me have just reminded me why I left this dump. Peace!
