Both have played tens of thousands of games here.
Hikaru Nakamura is better than Magnus Carlsen?
Oh Ok, Magnus has only played a few thousand. Do you guys think Magnus is past his peek? It seems he had 2 peaks based on Gotham videos.
They're comparable in how they defeat other top GMs in dozens of consecutive games. What other crazy stuff do I post? I'm one of the most well-known common sense oracles on this site's forum.
He had some poor performance in between the two peaks. Like he had several weeks of winning tournaments but I'm between he'd miss a mate in 3 or blunder a rook..etc.
It's on like a pot of neck bones tomorrow. Hopefully they're both well rested and not hungover (ahem... Magnus).
The match starts at 2 pm eastern u.s. time, is that right?

I posted this thread 6 years ago don't even know why it's reactivating..
Hikaru will gladly admit that Magnus is the better player overall, but it's an open question who is better at faster time controls. Magnus is the current Blitz World Champion and has a plus score against every top player in the world.
Hikaru has a higher bullet rating and has recently done very well against Magnus. The Speed Chess Championships here will be starting in less than an hour. I think Magnus will win, but will need to be +3 before the bullet segment begins.

I think Magnus will win the bullet segment.
Welp, Magnus just won the bullet portion to win the match as they were tied 9 to 9 after the 5 & 3 minute portions. 4.5 to 3.5 in bullet this time. Magnus was even nice in the last game I believe, because I heard the commentators saying he had a forced mate in the last game but was being generous and offered a draw to Naka, which Naka accepted, so really Magnus could've won the bullet 5 to 3. I couldn't watch the games, I was driving and listening.
I tried to watch it but when I clicked on Magnus Carlsen it wouldn't load the game. It loaded other GM games though?
I watched/listened (mainly listened) on chess24.
Daniel Naroditsky & Aman Hambleton did a good job of commentating. I could follow the excitement without seeing the games.
Yes. Totally. Hikaru is so good at speed chess.
