Common College Degrees For Chess Players

For those of you who are in college or out of college, what are you/what did you major in? At my university, the majority GMs/IMs that make up the chess team major in computer science. It kind of makes sense, since both fields of expertise specialize in systematic, computational thinking (especially when it comes to things like sequential logic and converting basic codes/pieces into intricate, functional systems).

I got my degree in Computational Mathematics (started with Computer Science and only needed a few more classes to also get a Math major as well).

I'm guessing Computer fields, Math, Engineering and Physics type degrees probably are strongly represented but pretty much any field is likely. There are probably a pretty good number of Philosophy majors as well.

I really want to major in computer science, and I am thinking that chess will improve my soft skills for it (problem-solving, memory, creativity, attention to detail, etc).

Yes computer science is the best major. I am insane at math and physics and hopefully and win a few math/CS competitions. I am currently learning Python and expect to finish the course at the end of this summer. I want to work in machine learning/AI development, and I hope to get my computer science degree at a prestigious university, like MIT or Georgia Tech. I want to pair it with a degree in either finance, economics, neuroscience, or something similar.

I majored in Biology and then got my M-asters-in -Teaching. On one platform I have reached the rapid expert rating. I'm pretty happy with that success.
