Chess on the Outer Banks, NC?

Are there any chess players on the Outer Banks of North Carolina?  More specifically, on Hatteras Island - with the thought/hope of starting up a chess club there.  While not a permanent resident, I do spend about nine months out of the year on the Island and would like to find some face to face competition.  Anyone?

Hello Avon....if you're currently in the Outer Banks it's not too late to head west to the Triad-area for this weekend's North Carolina Open tournament in Greensboro....

If I ever end up moving close to the Outer Banks, I would be interested in starting a club there....

I know you most likely won't see this as I am about 15 years late to the response. I am a semi-new chess player and I have lived on the outerbanks my whole life (I was 4 when this post was made). Now that I'm an adult I've had a sudden and overwhelming interest in chess. Playing online is fun and all but I find it hard to learn much of anything through online sources. I am looking for someone of much higher skill to teach me how to really understand the game. I would love to have the chance to learn from someone who's been playing much longer than I have. Thanks for reading and feel free to reach out to me if you ever get the chance to read this.

I'm also a very new player in the outer banks, specifically Wanchese - I'm definitely not the one if you're looking for a teacher, but I found this thread while searching for local chess groups. I don't know anyone else in the area that plays, but hopefully more folks see this - I'd love to play some games over the board.
