Presumably you used a GROUP INVITE (as described here ... intra-group-tournament) to set up the tournament?
Personal invitations OVERRIDE the tournament's rating-ranges restrictions.

If the tournament hasn't started yet they'll be eliminated once it starts, if it's in the middle of the tournament they started out in the tournament below 1500 and then raised their rating while the tournament was going.

In unofficial tournaments, no-one will get eliminated AUTOMATICALLY if they're outside the rating-ranges: the TD has to do it exlicitly.
I recently set up a tournament for players rated below 1500

The problem is that people over 1500 are getting in. Any ideas on what the problem might be? As far as I can tell the Max Rating box in the setup screen is correctly filled in.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.
