Making custom tray for pieces.

Sort:
Satori23

I am attempting to make a custom tray for my pieces to lay in - so far I've messed with foam & hand cutting each slot out & covering it with felt. I am unable to find any information on how to make these - I am just winging it so far. Here is a picture of what I am trying to essentially make :

Does anyone have any advice on how to make trays like this or experience? Or maybe website with good tutorial ideas or methods on making these trays & what types of materials would be best. Thank you all in advance! :)

I went the divided tray route. Cut some wood strips to length, glue, suede leather.

Working well.

Imho if somebody its making that much work should also consider the idea to leave space also for a second queen.

Maybe your actual favorite set doesn't have a second queen, but who knows about the next one? ( also: having a second queen its realy cool!! )

It is divided crosswise as well.

Hopefully this shows better, but the black suede is a challenge.

So does anyone have any advice in regards to my original posting? Maybe some tutorials out there or advice on making ones that are form fitted to the pieces.
