how do you become staff or help?

If there were a way to report abuse, I would do it.

But I can't find it.

go to the bottom of any chess.com web page (including this one) and there is in little green writing 'report abuse.' It works, I unfortunately can say I have had to use it.

Why would you report abuse?

Because some one went from a 2200+ level player to a 1153 so that he could join a tournament and win the tournament. I did not appreciate him bringing my score down so much when I lost to him and I am sure other players did not enjoy him resigning close to 50 games where he only made 10 or less moves.

shuttlechess92

that is banned in real life

I want a way specifically to flag a certain forum entry. I don't want to have to type a complete (generic) abuse report. It would be better if I could just flag a certain post as abuse, as is the case on other websites.

It is possible. See "Forums > Chess.com Community" for an old sticky topic "Chess.com is Hiring!" leading to "Work at Chess.com - We're Hiring!".

Seems too late but it is still a sticky topic and I am sure others have sent unsolicited applications.

As far as I know there are no "helper" duties. You can set your account to accept "Welcome" games with new members.

o thank, finallly someone answered my question!

arunchess

Every site needs helpers because they can not efford many paid staff. Helpers are needed to attend problems / complaints immediately. Lodging complaint and getting redresal after 3 days is ok . But if someone can listen / guide you when you need it most is much better. And don't think there are not many complaints. When people of diverse cultural background inter-act many problems crop up. Believe me it is a very demanding job if you take it seriouly.

Yes, I am a "helper" (administrator) on a different website, and everything arunchess says above is correct. And beyond that, there are also plenty of people looking to stir up trouble, just for trouble's sake.

What this site has, which is great, is the great forums, and the sense of community.
