What's the default setup that you adopt against people who play passive moves?

When White is a system player, his default setup is simply his system, as he never plays anything else.

When White is a 1.d4 2.c4 player, his default setup will probably be 1.d4 2.c4 3.Nc3 4.e4 5.Nf3.

When White is a 1.e4 player, his default setup will probably start with 1.e4 2.d4 3.Nc3, and then he has three possible default setups, in decreasing order of frequency:
- 4.Nf3
- 4.f4 5.Nf3
- 4.Be3 5.f3 6.Qd2 7.O-O-O 8.Kb1 9.g4

I take advantage by picking up a tempo or two; why not?

I had a recent game where one tempo difference led to mate.

If you can't take advantage of his/her passive play.... is it really passive?

If you have a space advantage and can not use it.... is that really a space advantage?

If you have a development advantage and have no way of making something with it... do you really have a development advantage?

White playing e4 and d4 staking a claim in the centre to me is an aggressive setup, black is asking for trouble if white ends up maintaining paws on e4 and d4 unopposed.
