Looks like some people are hitting the egg nog already.

I have a glass full, except I skipped the milk, egg, and nutmeg. Just the additives (Jim Beam) and ice.

Yeah, that other stuff is bad for you -- full of calories.

What do you think?

Robert_New_Alekhine

GOOD!

Robert_New_Alekhine

What about the Santa Claus Opening/Sleigh variation

Pun alert here: Sleigh/Slay

X_PLAYER_J_X

Good Job Robert_New_Alekhine

No one has said the move Nc6.

Which means what if they do not play 2...f5.

What if they play 2...Nc6 with the idea of playing f5 later?

The move 2...f5 I tryed to name it a Christmas name such as Christmas Caroling.

The move 2...Nc6 does not have a name yet.

Should we call it the Sleigh Defense?

This position here seems very interesting and playable.

The line you mention is very interesting as well Newengland7

In this position I do not think they can take the e4 pawn.

If they take the e4 pawn than maybe we can win.

Yeah we can consider this an Opening trap.

Checkmate after capturing on e4 is avoidable by playing g6.

@wtg62

The line you posted on post #27 is called

The Santa Claus Attack/Caroling Counter Gambit Declined/Lights-Out Variation

1.e4 e5  2.b3 f5  3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Qh5+

Both of black's responses are losing.

Which is why I used newengland7 suggestion in calling it the Lights-OuT Variation.

As you showed in your diagram very nicely one line leads to mate

The other line leads to huge material loss.

New England Qh5+ is deadly!!!

Today on December 24, 2015,

I bring sad news.

On this christmas eve one which should be filled with enjoy! (One should be filled with joy.)

I bring the sad truth! (You said that already.)

The Chess Community does not have a Opening for Christmas!

Let the text in red sink into your soul! (Would be much easier to sink into my soul if it had actually proper grammar.)

We as a chess community can not afford to let christmas pass once again with out a Christmas chess opening!

What is even more disturbing is that Halloween has 2 openings!

The Halloween Gambit & The Frankenstein-Dracula Variation

1,000 years of chess if not more and we have not made a Christmas Chess Opening?

We have failed Santa!

If Santa wasn't so jolly and nice he would curse us out!

So what did I do lady's and gentlemen?

I went on a search!

I searched databases hoping to find a line which doesn't have name.

Than it happened, I found one!

Check this out lady's and gentlemen.

See what you think!

I tryed to find a Christmas Opening in the most Classical chess opening.

Dude, you completely ruined the moment by spelling so many things wrong... Also, you do realize... SANTA'S NOT REAL!

Do you really want to give up your fiancetto with this line, losing bishop pair and trading worse minor piece for your better one?

X_PLAYER_J_X

I have played 2 games today using the Santa Claus Attack!

The time control was 5-0

The games were unrated for fun!

I did play some higher level rated players the problem is none of them played 1...e5 lol.

So all I could manage to get was 2 games!

However, they was very interesting games.

I have given my opponents the chance to name there super secret variation.

We can add it to the theory section of this forum.

Than tomorrow I will make an article on the Santa Claus Attack!

Very nice games indeed!

Lol still loses rook

I am going to play this opening.

I think there should be a variation of the Grinch Defense, in which If Nxe4 after Bb2, then you should play d3, Ne2, and fiancetto your light squared bishop, with the option to castle kingside, or queenside.

Yeah no one has talked about the Grinch Defense!

Maybe there is some lines which can be named in it and variations.

X_PLAYER_J_X

The above position is the Grinch Defense!

Black is trying to steal our e4 pawn.

Rochanb has came up with an Excellent suggestion!

Yeah!

Is that the idea you had Rochanb or was you thinking more of a Gambit line?

I mean we don't have any Gambit lines in the Grinch defense either so yeah we need plenty of suggestion's.

A couple have pointed out to me that after 3. ... fxe4?? in the Arian counter-gambit, civility declined variation Qh5+ is simply winning for white. I have since updated to realize this.

Well I used your sugggestion.

However, I don't call it the Arian lol because we are suppose to use christmas names/idea's lol.

I call it the following:

The Santa Claus Attack/Caroling Counter Gambit Declined/Lights-Out Variation

1.e4 e5  2.b3 f5  3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Qh5+
