X_PLAYER_J_X, you got mixed up. I called Qh4 the Royal Grinch. But Harish, why would anyone play Qg5?

X_PLAYER_J_X

Sargentoabel brings up a very good point!

I would play the line a little differently.

If they play the Sliegh Defense move order I would play like below:

OH, You are correct finn416!!

Well than Harish has came up with a new variation.

Harish named the line the Queen's Kingdom Variation.

However, that is not really a Christmas name.

We have to think of a Christmas Name?

What if instead of Queen's Kingdom.

We say Mrs. Claus's Kingdom Variation?

Since Santa Claus has a wife named Mrs. Claus

Using Stockfish and Houdini to evaluate 2nd move options for black:

Grinch gives -0.29 from Stockfish and -0.16 from Houdini

Sleigh gives -0.11 and -0.12

Caroling Counter gives 0.19 and 0.29

Present gives 0.27 and 0.1

Stocking Counter gives 0.02 and -0.09

Bad Santa gives 0.22 and 0.16

Accelerated Elf gives 0.13 and 0.44

Reversed Bishop gives -0.21 and -0.04

Royal Grinch gives 0.34 and 0.56

Snowman gives 0.03 and 0.17

2...... d6 gives 0.06 and 0.08

This line needs a name and some more deeper looking as it is better than the crazy lines (like the Royal Grinch) that we are coming up with now.

Evaluating these, we find that the lines that we should stop anaylzing are the Royal Grinch, Accelerated Elf, Bad Santa, Caroling Counter, Present, and Snowman.

The Grinch is the line that according to the engines, causes White the most troubles.

The Present Defence, although lowly rated, is hard to counter for White if unfamiliar.

Reversed Bishop is more dangerous than it seems.

And who took away my admin?!

Arcieus

Just to remind us what the plans for both sides are.

With the pawn on b3

White aims at d2-d4(making d3 inferior move unless it is a must), f2-f4 is vital to support d4 followed by Nf3, the light squared bishop can position at b5, c4, or fianchetto to g2.

Black seeks to prevent d4 with possible moves like c7-c5, Bc5, Nc6, and moves that hit e4, Nf6, d5, etc.

In the Grinch Defence, if Black plays Bc5, then White seeks f4, if Black plays Bb4, then Whits seeks d4

DoctorStrange

Ok Queen's kingdom is not sound. dear XplayerXJ, Qg5 I too don't have any idea about Qg5. Stupid idea anyway. I saw no one had got that opening so I wanted to make one opening :D.

So what about naming it ....Santa's Queen defense!

DoctorStrange

Mrs Claus looks odd. Maybe Santa's Queen defense or Santa's Queen's defense.

DoctorStrange

What about this?

e4 e5

b2 Ne7

g3!? c6!? Intending d5

Name- Santa claus opening Pawn rush variation.

Stockfish comprension

For the bad Kingside position, Black has a strong centre that cramps White's position, the White Bishop at g5 is misplaced and White's Queenside is weak. The position is in White's favour but not much, I would say +=
