@finn416 Everything you said is correct except for 1 line.

1.e4 e5 2.b3 d5

The line name got changed!

It was first the North Pole Attack.

However, people didn't seem to like the name.

Instead it got changed to Christmas Stocking-Counter Attack.

I preferred that over the Stocking name, but ok.

We can use "North Pole" for something else.

I have a new opening idea.

Introducing...

The Egg Nog defense!

Two more:

The Italian Santa

AND

The Spanish Santa

That totals 25! However, the second-to-last one is kinda like a sideline of the Sleigh defense and the Reindeer attack.

I would like to contribute my first game I ever played on chess.com using this opening:

 It should be Christmas themed.

@finn416 post # 270

We have openings already named:

Italian Grinch Defense, Spanish Grinch Defense, and Three Knights Grinch Defense.

You can see how the line names and the position are very similar!

Check this out as a comparision!

Do you see how the Santa Opening line has potiental!

You can see in post #279 that in truth.

The Santa Claus Opening really isn't a line which is super crazy!

Believe it or not I am sure many players on this forum have probably been playing similar positions and themes to the opening.

The below diagram is going to show you want the Santa Claus Opening looks like from the white side vs Grinch Defense.

Now look at the black side of the Ruy Lopez.

The only difference is the insertion of the move "b3"

Which is due to the fact white moves first in chess.

So really if you play 1...e5 as black against 1.e4 players.

Than the Santa Claus Opening might not be a huge stranger to you.

You probably have been playing similar idea's against your 1.e4 opponents and have not even realized it until now.

Here is a 2-1  time control game where I won on time.

My opponent used up time.

I believe because he was confused or had never seen this line before.

Thus, It came as a shock to him lol.

This is funny! I never heard of such opening!! .:.

Dragonwolf049

Used it in several casual games. Won one, tied one, lost the rest.
