90% of every chess game I win is because of the Ruy López. Super underrated, highly recommend.

You have played 100 to 150 total games.

You have played the Ruy López 17 times.

You won 3 games.

You drew 2 games.

You lost 12 games.

The above stats are only from Chess.com. You could play on other chess websites and have better score, but on chess.com your score is very bad.

You might be better off playing a different opening on chess.com.

The creator of topic plays horribly in every opening and in addition thinks that if he plays Bb5 in any random position it is ruy lopez.

Many amateurs don't understand that both sides, not one, determine the opening. They think if they play d4 and Bf4, it is a london system, or if they play 1...d5, it is automatically a Queen's Gambit or Scandinavian.

Well, 1.d4 d5 2.Bf4 c5 3.e3 cxd4 4.exd4 is not a London - It's an Exchange Caro-Kann (1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.exd5 cxd5 4.Bf4 is the exact same position).

1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf6 3.c4 c6 4.d4 cxd5 5.Nc3 is not a Scandinavian. It is a Caro-Kann, Panov-Botvinnik Attack.

Just like how 1.d4 d5 2.Bf4 e6 is a London, not a Queen's Gambit Declined, even though Black's moves were the same. White's were not.

So yes, Identifying openings is more than just your own moves.

I used to play the Bb5 Sicilian as white. At the chess club, a game would go 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5. Then I'd say to my opponent: "I'm playing the Ruy Lopez. What are you doing?"
