Is Ben Finegold as big a jerk as he seems in his videos?

One more thing. Ben's not anonymous. I guarantee everyone calling Ben bad names has a lesser rating than Ben and is anonymous. It's easy to hide behind anonymity.

Here's one you may not have heard, there's so much drama behind cheating and two years ago when people were scared to touch the topic. Ben commented on it and even joked, I believe in a classroom, saying:

"If someone calls me a cheater, I'll tell them thank you! They must really think I'm playing well."

He's a comedian. Comedians have to take risks to be funny. It's required. There's no such thing as safe comedy or comedy that doesn't offend someone, yes, they're going to offend someone. It's true. Go listen to any popular comedian and they take a lot of negativity in order to make people smile. If you don't believe me, i'll get some sources of interviews with comedians.

How's that phrase go?

"If what I'm saying offends you. Then I'm talking to you."

You suck at chess. Truth hurts. Don't like it? Go somewhere else. Earth revolves around the sun, the only star in our solar system, it doesn't revolve around you.

You can't say "truth hurts" as an excuse to be a jerk.

The truth only hurts if you make it hurt. There are better ways to tell people they aren't good at something than making them never want to abandon it forever and even hear about it again for as long as they live, which is what Ben does to most people. Ben, and people like you, are clearly the ones who think the world revolves around you, if you think that talking to anyone like that is acceptable. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You're still still playing chess. So apparently truth hurts didn't cause you to quit. The moment it does. That's when you say something about it and make sure the world knows where it hurts you on the doll.

Until you yourself quit chess forever, which is what you're indicating here, then you're attempting to speak for others which is an assumption that you're making about statistical evidence which you lack. I'd sure be interested in it. Until then, you're assuming and assumptions like this are a fallacy and also one factor that's driving people apart from one another.

If you find him funny, great. If not, there's a video course you can buy from him. Every single chess personality is boring compared to Ben, because they're not comedians.

Here's a theory. If people learn better when they're happy and laughing, wouldn't that mean if those that find Ben the funniest of all chess personalities would learn the most from him and Ben is doing more to improve the sport than you?

What about trash talking in games? Did you ever play any game or sport ever where your opponent trash talked you? Didn't that make you want to perform better and crush them or prove to them that they're wrong?

I think a lot of people confuse Ben 'razzing' people with Ben 'dissing' people.

I mean it's pretty clear that Ben's just saying whatever roast he can think of at the moment along with a few running ones. Not sure why anyone takes it so personally.

Chessflyfisher

the truth hurt you huh?

Fine if you don't like his style but he is clearly joking. He's trying to use comedy to keep kids (and adults) engaged and paying attention. It's different in a sea of sameness. Come on, you don't get that?

well, you can't really say that the French toast dude sucks at Chess, because you aren't any better. So if he sucks, that means you also suck. Usually, it's the higher rated one who calls someone else bad at chess

I think Ben lives a life where he spends most of his life helping far lesser players improve.. His sardonic humor is really aimed at trying hard also but being able laugh at our impelrfelction. He is decent at his core.

I'm at 1000 so only some of his vids are at my level. Some say checkers players are dumb - but I think the red ones taste great.
