Anyone has "The Hippo System" by Eric Briffoz? A very bad book, especially when he tries to play it with white. If you don't have it, don't buy it.

The Hippo is solid and can win. Spassky played it serveras times. Look at his games and some other GMs.

It's just about playable for black but it's much harder for black than white. Black has to see anything white might can do it's bound to be really difficult if white actually plays well, takes space, develops actively and goes for a central breakthrough.

White has lots of piece sacrifices.

BTW to anyone saying look at Spasski games,Spasski really but like really was not playing good hippo and played it really passive barely surviving in that world championship its better to look at Solomon Ruddel, Hikaru Nakamura
