DEBATE: What is best opening?
For me I play best with the Vienna and second best with the Italian, and as black, probaly the sicilian
the best chess opening is the queen's gambit ofc
I respect your opinion however the budapest gambit hard counters the queen's gambit unless your opponent is very high elo (2200+).
how tf does the budapest counter the QG?

Because the most popular outcome of the budapest gambit is white losing their queen and the second most common is white getting mated.
The Budapest is this (I believe):
Quesns gambit is this:
no other opening is called the queens gambit other than 1.d4 d5 2.c4
just playing 1.d4 as white then following it up with 2.c4 does not make it a "queens gambit"
Has anybody considered the unknown Caro-Kann variation of 2 e5?? I saw some very promising opportunities for White but I need real players to test the different positions.
I dont see where you go from here. You just have a worse position (although its not completely lost at club level since its only a pawn, and your opponent is probably confused. Never give up.)
There is no best opening, however there are some great openings that can put you ata tactical advantage.
I'm an elderly guy (80yo) and my brain, while it still functions, is quite slow. I play openings that require less theory and tactical patterns. Even so, they are plenty challenging for me to learn.
White: d4 - the London System. I started chess playing the Italian Game, which I like. Unfortunately, I get destroyed playing e4, as my aged brain can't seem to handle open positions. The Alex Banzea course on Chessable is excellent and enjoyable.
Black versus e4 - the Caro-Kann. Simple and clean variations. And I like the way the pawn structure looks.
Black versus d4 - the Queen's Indian. I know that I should play the Slav, but I just like the way the QID looks on the board. You don't have to win a game to enjoy playiing it.
