Bongcloud Opening Book
Just once I'd like to see a game in which this Bongcloud is blown away. This is the silliest thing I've ever seen, and yet I can't find any examples of it ending up in a loss?

Was that convincing enough for you?
Ha ha that's a nice one notmtwain, not looked this up for a while, but still very entertaining opening.
Personally I like the Fred defense Kf7 variation, which has similar positional ideas to the Bongcloud
Of course @DeirdreSkye
I only it against my younger brothers though, since I can still win so its fun
As a modern Bongcloud enthusiast, I just wanted to post one of the variations I have come up with, take a look
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Ke7 3. Ng5 Kf6 4. d4
Theoretically a very solid line. Chess.com still needs to add a Bongcloud mode though :]

In a bongcloud game, the goal isn’t to checkmate, but to get your king to the other side
Nonsense! If black checkmates he loses the game.
It is all about getting the king to the other side man. White's king has superior position over black's. +-
FHINALLY, SHOMEONE GETS ME, DUEDS!
wow you really put your time in this one makes you wonder if u took time to do something useful there would be no limits for you.
Top 10 reasons to play the Bongcloud (from "Winning with the Bongcloud" by BM Andrew Fabbro. BM stands for, no not that, for Bongcloudmaster, of course.):
10. Your current repertoire is too drawish.
9. You want to avoid the reams of theory needed to play the Najdorf or QGD by selecting an opening with less published thought.
8. "Everything is playable at the club level."
7. You are devoted to a de la Maza tactics regimen and don't want to waste time studying openings.
6. You are intimidated by openings with hard-to-pronounce names like Bogoljubov-Indian, Scheveningen Sicilian, Trompowsky, and Konstantinopolsky
5. Your current repertoire is too well-known in your club and you want to surprise your opponents.
4. You can't afford the full version of ChessBase and want an opening where all known games will fit in ChessBase Light's 32,000-game limit.
3. You're interested in an opening for which no GM or IM has published a refutation.
2. You’ve noticed that while dozens of people have published “Anti-Sicilian” books, there are far fewer “Anti-Bongcloud” books.
1. You’re high as a kite.
My personal reasons:
10. Your name is Ostap Bender
9. Fascinated by chess-boxing you're working on rugby-chess
8. You reverse the opening to redeem a dubious defense to the Parham Attack (1.e4 e5 2.Qh5)
7. Life is short and you'd rather beat a patzer than a GM with a King Walk
6. You are a Steinitz fan but your instructor is the grand-grand nephew of von Bardeleben
5. Your copy of Mednis (King's Power) comes from the library of Philip K. Dick
4. Girlfriend won the bet
3. You forgot to say "j'adoube"
2. Too work and no play make Jack a dull boy
1. You are NN
A few bongcloud openings I have championed and found on my deep journey through the bongcloud:
Wayward Knight's Defense:
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 H6!
(main line follows Kf3, d5 4.d4 dxe4
or
4.exd5 Qxd5 going into the exchange variation.)
[]
Soda Bottle Attack:
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 d6 3.c3 Nc6 4.g4!
(opposes g3 main line of the Philedor defense)
Bongcloud Asymmetrical system:
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 Ke7 3.Ke3 Kd6
Marcine-Czech variation:
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 d6 (with 3.f3 to take it into a Marcine-Czech game)
French Baguette opening:
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 Nf6!
Chinese Duck attack:
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 Ke7 3.Ke3!
(...d5 plays the East Winds countergambit)
Samoln's Cannon variation:
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 Ke7 3.Nc3!
I also have some variations on existing openings...
Royal Sandbag Defense (against a Napoleon attack):
1.e4 e6 2.Ke2 Qh4!
a good continuation being 3.g3 Qg4! 4.Ke1 Bc5 5.Qxg4!? d6 etc
alternatively, 5. Ne2 takes the game into Royal Sandbag defense: South Korean Fianchetto.
Russian Dashcam Gambit (derived from the Sigma Yigor variation):
1.e4 e5 2.Ke2 Bc5 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.d3 d5 5.exd5 Nxd5 6.b4!
...O-O takes the game into black's Driving Ticket countergambit.
What follows is my annotation of a tournament game I myself played against IBM Legozowhystchy
I would love to continue a healthy discourse both here and on my lichess study: https://lichess.org/study/v3jkCznw
I would equally love to play against any budding bongcloud players! Please do challenge me either on this site or lichess. Either way is fine.
Hello everyone,
I believe I have stumbled upon a pretty significant improvement to the Bongcloud attack today:
g4 e4 Ke2
I call it the Grob Storm or Bongcloud deferred. I can expound on the story of my discovery and the thought process behind the pattern if there is any interest.
Any and all Bongcloud enthusiasts please feel free to challenge me at any time controls! It would present me a nice opportunity to test the Grob Storm on somewhat symmetrical black configurations.
I have been exploring the possibilities offered by the Grob Storm and I've found another improvement: Ke3. This move often results in a queen sac, but if you get lucky, it nicely opens up the diagonals for the queen and the light bishop and puts the king nearer the middle where he can flex his power as an attacking piece.
Even when the queen sac occurs, it is recoverable as shown in this game I just played: https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/7471860559
In fact, at this point I almost feel like for the opening to be a "true" Grob Storm, Ke3 is simply mandatory. It finishes the statement nicely and sets up the board for some incredibly sharp lines.
So my new "default" Grob Storm shall be g4 e4 Ke2 Ke3, as long as the opponent allows it.
It is now g4 e4 Ke2 Ke3 b4/g5 e5 Ke7 Ke6 b5.
