Best software/platform for building an opening repertoire?

Sort:
Neutrinosoup

Hi,

Since starting to teach my daughter chess - I’ve been trying to undo all my lazy unsound openings (Goring Gambit, Englund Gambit etc etc).

I’ve actually been having more consistent success with the openings I’ve been teaching her —> Giuoco Piano etc

Is there software or chess website that I can personalise and play through openings and build my own opening repertoire from scratch?

Thanks,

Niall

It depends on what your goals are. Serious chess players use Chessbase, but it is not free, and it is probably not needed for intermediate player.

You can do it like this as well:

Is a nice alternative as well.

Two years ago I bought fritz 17 with the opening trainer in it. But now I lost access and have to pay a chessbase-subscription fee every month to get access to my own repertoire. Is Chess Assistant 22 really subscription free?

Hi,

You may have a look at https://chess-repertoire-companion.com

It's free, online and under development

I found this tool, which seems to be a game-changer for storing and displaying openings : chessflare.com

Duusker, with Chess Assistant, you store your database on your hard drive as you make it. I upgrade every other year or so to get a more current database, but there has never been a subscription fee like chessbase has for the things I use it for.

When I started teaching my kids chess, I wanted to build a good opening repertoire too. There are a few tools that can help, like ChessBase, or even some online platforms where you can customize and save your openings.
Also, if you're juggling chess lessons with other projects, I found that using something like sugar crm really helps keep everything organized. It made things a lot easier for me to manage all my tasks and info in one place.
