Nona Gaprindashvili, a history-making chess champion, sued Netflix after a line in the series mentioned her by name and said she had “never faced men.” She had, often.

oh wow, just from reading those few sentences it seems a little petty, but thank you for the short description!
Nona was a pioneer in chess, beat many top Russian male grandmasters, and earned a grandmaster title (not WGM), but is barely remembered by history. Then a show comes along and mentions you in their story, and completely belittles what you've done so as to make their story make Beth seem more pioneering.
You just can't lie about real-life people in your fiction. Would it be okay if Netflix made a series about a fictional basketball player and said that Michael Jordan was a drug addict with multiple wives? Where does the lying stop?
