Trans women have no advantage over biological women. Everyone can play in open sections. There's just a separate women's section to encourage women to participate and to form communities of women chess players who can support and help one another improve.

That's exactly why people are upset with FIDE. FIDE has banned Trans women for competing temporarily (for 2 years) while they work out a policy for Transgender chess players. Many people think this is a ridiculous/stupid policy and that's what all this controversy is about.
