I would like to add my voice to the host of others who enthusiastically recommend Coach Kestony's lessons. He is a gifted TEACHER and you will benefit from his lessons. I have worked with two other coaches in the past (one of them in person). Coach Kestony far surpassed them both. You will benefit both from his knowledge and his teaching style.
Streamer/Youtuber Offers Chess Lessons
Chiming in to say that Kestony is fantastic coach - since I've started learning from him I've brought up my elo from 300 to nearly 700 in rapid in under 4 months, and that's even with me missing lessons sometimes because I had other stuff going on - he always takes the time to answer specific questions and helps with advice as well as taking a general interest in you as a human being - solid guy/coach.
It is exactly one year ago when i began working with Kestony as my coach and trainer. At the time i got somewhat stuck in my development. Actually, i showed somewhat reversed development at the moment. Something needed to change as i remained ambitious to further improve and love the game. Via chess.com i came across Kestony. i do not know why i chose him, but i have not regret my decision. Actually, it is the opposite. After one year i feel there remains a lot of room to further improve. Kestony has the talent that we excactly picks you up where you are and then during the course adapts his approach where ever necessary. i improved in one year by 250 points in daily chess from 1560 where i dropped to from 1680 to currently 1810. I am much more comfortable with my game and look forward to further lessons and eye openers with Kestony.
As someone who has played for many years, but only started getting coaching in my late 40's, I can highly recommend Coach Kestony. Not only does he provide great instructional content that is respected by other coaches I've talked to on his YouTube channel, but he has helped me greatly to grasp some key concepts and idea and has dramatically improved my understanding of the game. He is highly structured and prepared, something that a lot of other coaches who might be equally skilled at chess might lack. He has pre-planned lessons and can quickly pull up material when needed to explain a topic, even if it wasn't something prepared specifically for the lesson. With Kestony you're getting more than his chess expertise, you're getting his TEACHING expertise as well. That alone is well worth the price of admission. I definitely recommend him for your coach!
I was looking for a coach on Chess.com and when Coach Kestony messaged me, I saw that he popped out. He's a Youtuber and a full-time coach. His lessons are made specifically for me, when I said my openings weren't as good, he dedicated a whole lesson to teach me the main lines and ideas which really helped in my following games. He gives lots of homework to be done for a while so you can always work on something in between the sessions. I would definitely recommend him for his amazing teaching and worthwhile price!
I have been using Coach Kestony for about a year. He actually has a lesson plan catered to my personal needs, and he is very good at explaining the "WHY" of a thing. I like the fact that I can email/PM him at any time with questions, and he always responds quickly. He is a very genuine person with a good personality and a down-to-earth method of teaching...I wouldn't recommend anyone else, honestly.
For my first ever chess coaching lesson, I chose Kestony because I was looking for someone experienced in online coaching who could set me on the right track in my chess improvement journey. At first, I wasn't sure if he was the right choice because I randomly chose a coach. I didn't know what exactly to expect for my first lesson except maybe getting my mistakes analyzed by him or me solving some puzzles to show my thought process. Boy, was I wrong. I got so much more than that. After the first lesson, his interesting, pleasant, and friendly approach was all I needed to be sure he was the right choice. In my first lesson, I wasn't given as many tasks as I expected, but instead I was given a good explanation of what is important for chess players to learn and why it is important. I was also given some valuable insight and information about chess in a short lesson. I also had a nice talk about his vacation trip to my country, which was good for me to always have a chance to talk to him about things other than chess. Overall, a good first impression If anyone is interested in getting a coach, I highly recommend Coach Kestony.
I have been using Coach Kestony for a couple months now and actually found him through this thread. I was very much a beginner when I started, and wasn’t sure if coaching even made sense for me, but I’m so glad I decided to get coaching. Kestony gave me valuable feedback and also pointed me in the right direction (what kind of puzzles to work on, etc) which I found extremely valuable. If you’re a beginner like me and on the fence about lessons, I’d recommend Coach Kestony.
After a few weeks of lessons with coach Kestony, I realised that I personally got addicted to his insights and chess skills as a master. He is very good at teaching. Maybe not even aware how good he is. But when the student is in the right mind, trust me the master is as good as Ding is in chess today. Whoever thinks finding a perfect coach, I highly recommend this cool dude. Just listen and talk. But first listen and everything will come easier in chess. Damn I'm acctualy addicted to chess not him. Sadge.
Coach Kestony is an excellent chess coach. He is committed to helping his students learn. He real pushes you during the lesson to really try and help develop your chess skills. He is great and friendly.. I would highly recommend him!
I've worked with Coach Kestony for several weeks now and I can already sense a dramatic shift in the way I play and see the game. I've enjoyed our lessons tremendously and am challenged in a new way each time we meet. I'm not a super highly rated player but I've been winning the vast majority of my games in the rating range I play against and have been moving steadily upward. I can tell that my understanding of chess principles and ability to visualize tactical manuevers has increased in just a short time. This is more than enough to convince me I am on the right track. I do not consider myself a true student of chess, I probably never will be, but I am a student of life and have dedicated myself to learning and coming as close as I can to mastering a variety of new things in different areas. Chess has been a fun but extremely challenging endeavor. I feel like I am in very good hands with Coach Kestony. For anybody looking for a chess coach, I highly recommend this man. He's also a very engaging person and my lessons are always immensely entertaining. Really, really glad I met this guy.
I started taking lessons with coach Kestony and it is the best thing I could have done. After just a few lessons I was in a tournament and had the best tournament result I have ever had. Usually I would do no better than ending up around the middle of my section or lower, but I ended up coming in second place. I was playing the last round to see who would be first and only lost because I forgot what he had taught me during this last round. When he does lessons with you he focuses on your weaknesses. He also gives homework directly related to the lessons . If you are serious about increasing your chess game take lessons from him. Don’t let my handle here fool you. With him I now win a lot also
Each conversation I have with Coach Kestony makes me more competent and knowledgeable, and it's simply fun to chat with him. If you're looking to advance with techniques that are real, easy to apply, and bump your rating, give him a call. You'll learn the why behind move variations and strategies. You'll know when to be tactical versus positional. You'll get a methodology that you can apply immediately. Give him a call!!
