Simple solution . . . just start using Chess Mentor, especially if you're already a Premium member! Here are the reasons why:
A. It provides clues if you want it to. All you have to do is ask.
B. If at first you don't succeed, it will let you try and try again.
C. The timer it uses is very generous. I hardly ever felt rushed.
D. It doesn't penalize you for alternate winning variations. It won't let you pass the puzzle with them, but it will explain to you why your move works, and then take you back to the previous turn without penalty to your final score.
E. In addition to allowing you to customize your starting point by entering your estimated playing strength, it let's you choose beginner, intermediate, and advanced, etc. tactical puzzle sets.
And if all of that weren't enough, it also provides you with a bigger ego boost than Tactics Trainer! I was able to make it to 2250 on Tactics Trainer. And while I never tried to rack up my score on Chess Mentor, it is ridiculously easy to maintain a 2100-2200+ rating there. Because of all the opportunities for partial credit, you hardly ever lose more than 1-5 points at a time, compared to Tactics Trainer where a string of bad problems could leave you with a -200 on your score. So rather than trying to get Erik and the staff to reinvent the wheel, just take advantage of the great things they already offer.
