I am interested to be your first student. I am a tournament player. I got chess books too. But I am still stuck at around 1600 chess.com for like 4 years. How will you teach me. Do you think I can be a 1900 online like you too?

Sandaime513

Yes you are very decent enough to go out and compete. Very decent enough to teach a vast number of under 1200-1860 online players here. You seem got a very good chess routine secret and you seem got a good set of chess books.  How much will you charge. I can see a lot of people here with professional coaches but still stay at 1600. Reply as soon as possible please.

Your computation is wrong. 2 and half  is 30 months. Ok let us say 10usd/month, that is a very great deal. I never seen a none tournament player beating 1900-2000 guys here.  My proposal 150 usd  make me a 15-month structured chess program from your book titles  and will  come back to you for another 15-months. Can I private message you?

wombat_chess

yeah you are good enough for OTB tournaments

drmrboss

2000 online blitz/ bullet here would probably equal to 1800 OTB. ( +200 bogus in online rating cos people can easily play online and easy to get online rating)

So 2200 here would be a good basic ground to aim prizes in local club.

P.S. I have plan to play a few club tournment, once I can get 2200 bullet/ blitz rating.

That is not true. 1900 here is top 99% of all chess players. And lots of OTB a couple of million or maybe more tournament players  around here. We can see a lot of USCF 2100 who are only 1900 chess.com

drmrboss

1800 OTB mean, FIDE 1800. USCF 2100 would probably be 1950 FIDE! And about +200 is in average!

A online 1900 is very decent enough to fight. Not to sure win a national open but has chances to win. Vast number of tournament players who are only 1500-1800 online.

drmrboss: if you are IM May Tun, Fide rated 2389. That would explain everything that chess.com pool of players are so strong.

I have 0 Fide rating! I played many big OTB tournments in my teenage (that was about 15-20 years ago) but for some ridiculous reasons, my rating was not counted! 90% of my current skill is probably due to my hard work in my teenage!

Yes you are ready,1900 is kinda really strong my friend. Many tournament players are only 1400-1800 chess.com. International open is expensive-- going abroad, the hotel, and the food.

I am 1800 FIDE, yet my rating here is a “legendary” 1800(blitz), even lower than yours. Now is a good time to start tournaments.

I am also 1900 in chess.com. But, still, I think coaching is bit too much for players like me.  Maybe I can share my ideas or study jointly with players who want to improve. Also, I think chess coaches , unless they are GMs, should coach on specific chess topics , which they have mastered.  A 1900 player offering to teach all aspects of chess makes me smile

I’m 1800 rapid and I’m trash at chess lol
