Awesome idea to help people get rid of bad chess habits .

Chien, thanks for putting together these great tournaments and for your lesson each week! It's helped my game immensely. Players in this tournament have been friendly and a pleasure to play with. Keep them coming!

Sure, I would like to benefit from the offer

If anyone is looking to play longer formats then I cannot recommend these tournaments highly enough. I live in a rural part of Brazil and they fill a void. The game have been competetive and the conversations afterwards very helpful and never unsporting.

I must also emphasise how well organised they are. Fhunfi is a fantastic director!

Slugman92

The tournaments that Chien organizes are top-notch, and something I always look forward to. I have also very much enjoyed the games that we have played and his very insightful thoughts, comments and discussion afterwards.

Fhunfi totally nailed it with our tourney. Everything was super well organized and ran like a clockwork. He kept us in the loop about the schedule and handled any hiccups with ease. The atmosphere was friendly and competitive, just how a chess club should be. Can’t wait for the next one, big thumbs up to Fhunfi!

Fhunfi is a great guy whose enthusiasm in setting up and monitoring these slow time controls is very much appreciated.

thank you, Chien

Chien is an outstanding club and tourney administrator as well as being responsive, courteous and professional. My dealings with him have always been very pleasant and I look forward to sharing more time looking over games with him in the future!

I have known Chien for a few years now, and he is always a positive and patient person to interact with. You can tell he truly loves the game, and is always willing to help you get better. I haven't been trained by him (yet), but only because of my hectic life since the pandemic. He is also excellent at organizing leagues and communicates well with everyone. If you can reach out to him for lessons, I'm sure you wont be disappointed!

Thank-you so much Chein for all your hard work administering these slow game tourneys, both here and on Lichess. As we all know finding games of similar time controls in the pool is nearly impossible, so this is great practice for those of us who play classical OTB games. As an improver I also appreciate your helpful post-game comments.

I have taken lessons from fhunfi for several months and I concur with what many have said in the thread. He is very passionate about chess and is always ready to share his insight about the games that I have played in the 90+30 tournaments that he organizes. His lessons are well-planned, with the main points of each lesson clearly explained and illustrated through model games. I highly recommend him if you want to deepen your understanding of the game!

I find these slow chess tournaments format great for practicing and improving. I also understand it takes a lot of effort to coordinate everything. Thanks Chien for making this possible! happy.png

Anyone up for a slow game this evening? 90 30 unrated?

padre

A big "thank you" to fhunfi (Chien) for all of the effort spent in organizing and holding these tournaments. They give me a chance to play "real" chess. I feel that I am learning a lot from from the experience. Thanks again.

I’ll have one with you if you want, mate.
TheProfessorIsIn

That would be great. 60 30 unrated ok?

DoYouLikeCurry
@theprofessorisin yep! Though it may have to wait until I’ve got a little more free time :)
