Smaller sets

I have limited space, so I recently bought a set from thechessstore.com with a king height of only 76 mm (3 inches). It was the only option I could find which didn't seem to simplify the design of the pieces. I often see the kings and queens in particular, with rounded of edges, or the knights with significantly less detail on these smaller sets. But this one seemed to have quite good detail. The quality seems to be really good and I paired it with a board with 45 mm squares from the Royal Chess Mall.
I'm interested to hear of any other good quality sets in this size range if you know of any.

Chess Empire do a few sets with a 3" king.

I much like Chess Bazaar's 'The Collector Series - 2.8" King' (easy to find on their website). To my opinion this set perfectly fits 40mm squares, which is conveniently compact. Some pictures of my set, middle of this page.

Oh that's weird. My photos appeared when I first uploaded, but are now gone :/ I'll try again.

Photos?

Hopefully the photos show up this time. I originally set them as linked images from https://ryan.hellyer.kiwi/2023/chess-set/. But apparently that failed. I tried uploading them instead, but they got rejected due to a file type error. I guess chess.com doesn't accept webp files for some reason. They're now converted to JPG and reuploaded and seem to be working .... I hope.

That's not bad actually. I find a lot of these smaller sets keep getting rounded off, and everything looks very cheap. But your site is still nice and sharp, similar to my own.

That's pretty good too! I can see in this picture that the knights still have a lot of detail in them.

Those are all nice sets.

I'm surprised this size isn't more popular. I find it more manageable for a set which is sitting out all day. And they're not so small as to be irritating to play with IMHO.

The Chess Store also has a fierce knight version of my set with ebonised black pieces rather than the rosewood version I have. And there's some other variations including brown woods on their site. I wanted a rosewood set though, which made my hunt for a suitable set quite tricky. I should have asked here originally lol; some of you have some good suggestions I hadn't seen before.

Staunton Castle also has a couple of sets with 3" kings:

Very nice! The more expensive of the two has a much nicer looking bishop IMO.
