Legend King's Indian

This is a unique plastic set.  It's great for blitz and always draws comments, mostly favorable.  I think it's pretty cool but some will object to the "broken-neck" knight.

Quality of the set is very good.  FWIW.  He is presently offering these on eBay as well as his website.  See here -->>  Legend King's Indian

Very nice. A take on the Zagreb knight.

kenardi

looks like a nice set.

- well weighted

- matt finish

- real felt base
(but it does look at little under cut, I like the felt cut right on the edge)

- I dont see any seems

Its a nice plastic set from Legend. Dennis has been selling them for years & I never read a complaint about any of his plastic or wood sets.

Looks good they also have another weighing in at 64 ounces Alegria pieces. That also looks very nice.

I kind of like that set. The N is a little submissive looking, maybe just a show of reverance to his majesty and his bride.

I llike the pawns and the B is a little different than all my other sets, but I like it.

Must ... Not ... Buy ... Another ... Set!

I'll second that. I've got a rosewood Pioneer set from Dennis that I bought back around 1993. It was my first decent wood set. Dennis was right there with Frank C. at the beginning of people marketing and vetting high quality wood sets in the US.

This is true.  They had a rivalry going there, as evinced by this 1998 Usenet post from Frank ---->> Legend vs. House of Staunton

I own this set and have done for over 10 years. Excellent quality - still set up beside me right now.

I love this set, except for the King. To me, it almost ruins the whole set. I own the Hastings, Marshall, Reykjavik and Zurich ... and one other set. I like the king in the Hastings and the Marshall. The Reykjavik is ok. I dislike the king in this set. The rooks and the bishops feel the best in the King's Indian set. The knights are actually a little too big and heavy. The Zurich set feels good, too. As far as aesthetics, I think the Reykjavik looks the best overall, but it's too light.

Funny enough I too have this set but the set I purchase was in India both the sets look similar the only thing which is different is the Bishop I have

How to order Legend Products plastic chess sets (kings indian and alegria)? They do not ship internationally. I also ordered them both in ebay but they cancelled as they do not ship to PO box address 😤

You need a friend in the US to forward.

Also, it is unbelievably rude in an online forum to put the same reply on 6 (!) different old threads, so that the top of the entire forum is your exact same response.

I would likely have helped you out, as I’ve done for others in the past, but not after that display. Good luck.

Sweet set, great outdoors, any weather set---wind, rain, snow ...everything's fine
Acquired it randomly with a chess clock bundle FB Marketplace buy

Funny seeing this thread because I just got a Kings Indian set delivered yesterday. My set is Ivory and Black. I also own the Alegria set in Camel and Black. Both are great sets. I've had a great experience with both of my purchases with Legend Products and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who may be considering one.

I should have bought the Alegria set 5 years ago

No thanks, I already have 💪🏻

Does anyone have any experience (or a photo) with the King's Indian set in "Camel"? It appears to be the only color available for sale at the moment besides Ivory which I know is too bright for me.

The camel sounds like it might be a bit darker (more brown) than the "natural" color offered in the Alegria set. I have an older King's Indian set circa 2002 in a off-white buttercream color that I adore. That color appears to be out of production. I definitely like the "natural" color offered by Legend but worry I might find the camel too brown.

Thanks in advance for any info on this topic!
